Mars
Our rusty red neighbour
This is Mars, the red planet! Rust in its rocks and dust gives it a reddish colour. Mars is cold, and its blanket of air is much thinner than Earth’s. Its surface has sand dunes, deep valleys, and enormous volcanoes. Sometimes wind lifts so much dust that a storm spreads across almost the whole planet.
Robot explorers work on Mars. They drive over rocks, take photographs, and study the ground. Traces of old rivers show scientists that water flowed here long ago. People have not walked on Mars yet. Two small moons, Phobos and Deimos, circle it like bumpy little potatoes.
Let’s build Mars as a puzzle → Explore in the planetarium →In the planetarium you can spin this world and look at it from every side.
